Development of an early warning and planning system for Pathways to sustainable energy
The Pathways to sustainable energy project (Pathways) focuses on the sustainable development of energy supply for the benefit of society in the UNECE region. The project defines three pillars of sustainable energy: 1. Energy security, in particular, the security of supply 2. Energy and environment, in particular, the environmental impact of energy supply and use 3. Energy for quality of life, in particular, to ensure that social and societal development is positive, and that economic growth generates prosperity These pillars are considered over time periods of several decades in order to
capture suitable time horizons associated with climate change, technology development and deployment and economic development.
